Win or Lose, Gordon shines early

If the Chargers aren’t down as the AFC west favorite, they certainly are on everyone’s wild card list. Led by a two X-Factor backfield, the Chargers have their eyes on the prize. That is, until Andrew Luck showed up.

The Chargers suffered a week one loss to Indianapolis at the hands of the AFC South defending champions in nail biting fashion. A Parris Campbell screen pushed the Colts just past the point where the Chargers could recover.

Despite the loss, Star running back Melvin Gordon shined early averaging 11 yards per carry for a total statline of 9 carries 107 yards and 2 scores.

While coach Briscoe was disappointed in the loss, he spoke highly of Melvin and looked to get him more touches in Week 2.

Melvin was up to the challenge against the 1-0 Detroit Lions coming off of a shut out victory against Arizona looking to repeat the effort against LA, but Chargers were having none none of it.

Gordon took 20 carries for 168 yards and again 2 scores. The Chargers would improve to 1-1 and Gordon is separating him self from not only opposing defenses, but the rest of the NFL as an early MVP candidate.
