Week 2 Rookie Report

Its Week 2, and while not all the games have been played, let us take a look at the to performing rookies so far.

Karl Bowie, HB, Kansas City

The Chiefs XF rookie running back kicks off his NFL career with back to back impressive performances. With 197 yards and a touchdown, Bowie is far beyond the rest of the class and sits 4th in the league rushing totals at the moment.

Kahlil Peele, WR, Green Bay

Peele currently sits at second in terms of rookie rushing yards with 95. Which is a measly 47 yards per game until you realize that he plays receivers. Along with 97 receiving yards, Peele has made immediate impact with his speed at the next level. Though he is yet to find the end zone, the Packers believe they have hit a home run with their second round draft pick and are excited to get him more involved with the offense.

Ellis Reese, FS, Arizona

When the Cardinals selected Reese at 1.4, they wanted a defensive playmaker the likes of Jalen Ramsey, Derwin James, and Earl Thomas. The 6ft4 monster athlete has not let them down. Wearing the coveted 21 long worn by all-pro corner back Pat Pete, Reese has forced three turnovers in two games and leads all rookies in tackles. Reese is a hybrid player who is spending time at both deep centerfield as well as in the box as a nickel defender. This elasticity allows him to player ever down this team needs him to.

Takoby Watts, MLB, New York Jets

Tied with Reese in rookie interceptions (2) is the young Takoby Watts. Selected at 2.30, Watt is not the most impressive athlete at the linebacker position but his football IQ and positioning puts him in positions to make plays.

Jimmy Blades, LE, MIN

The Vikings secure their pass rush for the next 5 years taking Blades in the mid first round. After a slow start in Detroit, Blades put on a two sack performance against Green Bay which ultimately led to their victory in OT. Blades is an exceptional pass rusher with great technique who is already well on his way to a double-digit sack season.
