K1NG’S COURT: Burnt xOrange Punchx

Welcome to the K1NGS COURT for the debut of K1NGs court content, let’s meet some of the different faces of the league and see what their approach is entering the season. Today, we sit down with the Texas Longhorns user, xOrangExPuncHx.

Q: Tell the Folks your Gamertag:

A: xOrangExPuncHx – got an Xbox 360 in the 5th grade to play COD 4 with friends. At that time we thought we were cool because we would all have matching gamer tags in COD lobbies. Everybody had a color and punch surrounded by x’s. I chose orange because I liked UT. A month later they all changed to some different style of name and I was too cheap to pay the 8$ to switch it. So 15 years later this is still what it is.

Q: Let’s Go into why you wanted the team you chose and your connection to them?

A: I grew up in Texas and have an uncle who works at the University of Texas. So as a kid every summer I would go stay with him for 2 weeks and go to the UT football and baseball camps on campus. For college I didn’t go to Texas, but went to a small D3 school so I still claim Texas as my college sports team.

Q: What do you feel will be the best seller when it comes to getting transfers and recruits to join you on your quest to win a Natty?

A: In recruiting I think the only real thing Texas can’t offer is immediate playing time. Now they have the conference prestige of the SEC and have one of the greatest media exposures in college football. I think the differentiator in recruiting locally will be campus lifestyle. Norman Oklahoma and College Station Texas don’t even compare to Austin.

[editor note: poor punch thinks I’m letting Texas into the SEC]

Q: Which user do you look forward to player the most and why?

A: Being new to Top I don’t really have anyone in specific. Going through the list of users I recognize some of the names from past madden leagues I have been in. I was clicking on profiles in the team list and looks like the Georgia user Jordan and I were in a madden league back in 2017. Texas Georgia should be a marquee matchup, so that’s what I will go with.

Q: What’s one thing the Top CFB family should know about your style and what you’re going to bring to the table when they walk into your home stadium!

A: Not really sure what to say here. Gameplay style will be determined once the game is released and we see stuff like rosters and playbooks. Personality style I’m pretty quiet and not a big smack talker, just let the sticks do the talking.

Q: Any particular player on the roster that you feel will be a household name at seasons end?

A: RB CJ Baxter, he is a 6’1 220 lb running back with speed and power. He had 650 yards and 5 tds as a true freshman last year. He has some big shoes to fill coming after Bijan Robinson and Jonathon Brooks but he has the talent and opportunity to be the next elite Texas RB.

Thanks for joining the K1NG today Punch, if you have an exciting style of play or storyline to share, please reach out to the NC State User K1NG to be featured.
