National Voter Registration Day

Happy national voter registration day Top Madden. There are now six weeks until the 2020 Presidential Election. That’s just 42 days away. Because of this, I think today is a good day to check to see if you’re registered to vote.

You can use this website: https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote for all of your election needs. You can check if you are currently registered to vote, and if not, you can register to vote. If you need to vote by mail, you can learn how to request an absentee ballot for your state. If you want to vote in person, you can see where your polling place will be on November 3rd.

Now Davey, I have voted previously so why would i need to check to see if I am registered to vote?
Good question, sometimes states purge voter records of people they believe are not alive, have moved, or just don’t vote at all. You can never be too careful and double check to make sure you are in fact still registered. You don’t want to show up on election day and be turned down because you were removed by accident and never re-registered.

Why should I even vote? Neither candidate will do anything for me?
Maybe you believe that, but the Presidential Election is a once every four years history making event. The policies they make, the leadership (or lack thereof) they provide, dictate how the country will function not just the years the candidate is in office, but for years to come.

If you really believe that whoever wins will not affect you at all don’t vote for yourself, vote for others. Vote for your significant other, vote for your children, vote for your future children. Vote for the millions of disenfranchised voters, the millions of children in the next generations whose lives will be impacted by an election they are not old enough to vote in.
